The road toll must be paid by every keeper of a vehicle with a maximum permissible gross laden weight of more than 3.5 tonnes that can be used for freight traffic.
Every truck passing through the BCR must have a working On Board Unit (OBU). The number of kilometers travelled is transmitted through wireless technology to a processing centre, where an invoice will be drawn up based on the applicable rates. For vehicles with a maximum permissible gross laden weight of less than 3.5 tonnes, no road toll is required.
This toll came into being based on an agreement between the three regions. In the government agreement, this toll was also mentioned, as part of the traffic fiscality reform.
