With the School Absenteeism Prevention Programme, the Brussels-Capital intends to tackle truants and loiterers. The aim is to make resources available for the schools in the 19 Brussels municipalities to tackle school absenteeism, violence and disturbances. The programme is based on the following pillars:
- games, sport and expression to prevent violence
- workshops for students on truancy and violence
- fun activities during lunch break or after school
- support with homework
- help with language proficiency for immigrants
