All levels of government, all public services - pensions, postal services, public transport - and certain economic sectors - banks, insurance companies, telecoms companies - have an ombudsman service. These ombudsman services all work together.
On the website ombudsman.be, you can find all ombudsman services grouped together. The website was created on the initiative of the Permanent Consultation of Ombudsmen (POOL). This is a network with which the independent Belgian ombudsmen for public services of the federal state, the regions and the communities, and of certain cities and municipalities, are affiliated. A number of independent ombudsmen from the private sector are also members of POOL.
